Tonight’s exclusive is courtesy of a silken-voiced songwriter who’s made the very most of her classical training as a musician
She’s a smooth soul and pop singer, whose songwriting style borrows its arrangements from both R&B and jazz and utilises her classical training as both a vocalist and a pianist. Diana Hickman’s new EP, South of Your Thoughts, is due out in March 2017 but today we exclusively bring you her new song Room With No Ceiling.
Of Room With No Ceiling, Hickman says: “Room with No Ceiling was written while I was trying to gracefully navigate my way out of a long term relationship. I wanted to salvage our unique connection, and try to transition into something else, but it didn’t work, we still don’t talk.”
She’s been likened to Kate Bush, Regina Spektor and Amy Winehouse. In addition to those artists we think she also recalls Norah Jones and Sade. Listen below, though, and make the final call on those comparisons yourself…
