Assisted by Royalty Exchange, we recognise the most successful songwriters behind the biggest hits on both sides of the Atlantic
Ed Sheeran took the top spot with the release of several new tracks in advance of his Divide album. Once the LP officially drops, we expect Ed and his fellow songwriters to take a commanding hold of the Songwriting Chart for some time. But the real goal of this chart is to highlight the songwriters with the biggest creative impact on the Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Chart. While artists like Future will gain a dominant position by virtue of having songwriting credits on multiple tracks from a new album, it’s the songwriters contributing to multiple songs by different performing artists that catch our eye most.
On that front, Leland ‘Metro Boomin‘ Wayne in the No 5 spot contributed to five different tracks (including one of his own). Justin Tranter debuted at No 10 and Ashley Gorley held on for another week at No. 20, both with four songs from four different performers each.
Meanwhile chart standard Max Martin (10), and newcomers Benjamin Levin (16) and Adam Feeney (17) all make the chart with credits on three different songs performed by three different artists each.
