Held in aid of RNIB (Royal National Institute of Blind People) a series of acclaimed artists will be performing tomorrow
Every 15 minutes, someone in the UK begins to lose their sight. The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) are here for everyone affected by sight loss. SEE THROUGH SOUND was launched by RNIB in London this April to raise awareness of sight loss and featured performances by Newton Faulkner and Andy Jordan.
Tomorrow (14 October) is SEE THROUGH SOUND’s inaugural concert and it’s a “a one-of-a-kind auditory experience” in which “as a member of the audience you will be given ‘sim specs’ (glasses simulating sight-loss) giving you an insight into living with sight-loss.”
SEE THROUGH SOUND have a superb array of artists booked to perform, with Badly Drawn Boy, Newton Faulkner, Doc Brown, Kevin Simm, Vaults and Andy Jordan all on the list. The artists have sad this about SEE THROUGH SOUND’s inaugural concert:
Badly Drawn Boy: “I’m truly delighted to be playing at SEE THROUGH SOUND. Most of us take our sight for granted, this is an opportunity to understand a perspective on sound from people with limited or no vision.”
Newton Faulkner: “My last performance with the RNIB has really stayed with me and I’m looking forward to being involved with another great event for a very important charity. The experience of playing even one song with sight impairing glasses on is one that will stay with me forever.”
Doc Brown: “RNIB does fantastic work supporting blind and partially sighted people here in the UK, and it’s a real honour to be on the bill for their inaugural SEE THROUGH SOUND gig. It’s going to be a night to remember!”
Vaults: “We are really excited and honoured to be playing for the SEE THROUGH SOUND event organised by RNIB in October. Great event, great line up!”
Kevin Simms: “the fact that sight has never been an issue for me has most definitely made me take it for granted and only since my son had to start wearing quite heavy prescription glasses did I really stop and think how lucky I am.”
Tickets are priced at £25 (£20 for students) and are available here or by calling 0844 844 0444. You can find out more information on SEE THROUGH SOUND at RNIB’s official website.
