‘Uptown Funk’ has been streamed more times in one week than any other track

Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars have broken the all-time streaming record in the UK with their chart-topping single ‘Uptown Funk’

ark Ronson has beaten the streaming record in the UK with his latest single Uptown Funk. Ronson’s track, which features Bruno Mars on vocals, has become the first single ever to hit over 2 million streams in a single week.

According to The Official Charts Company, the single had 2.34 million streams over the last seven days. The record was previously held by Ed Sheeran, whose single Thinking Out Loud was streamed 1.72 million times in November.

Uptown Funk was released ahead of schedule when X Factor finalist Fleur East’s version of the song went to No 1 on iTunes. But regardless of data from audio streaming sites such as Spotify and Deezer now counting towards the Offical Singles Chart, the track still missed out on the Christmas No 1 slot, losing to the eventual X Factor winner, Ben Haenow.

Ronson told BBC Radio 1 that he believes the success is due to a “Christmas party effect,” and that he’s happy to be Christmas No 2.
