Assisted by Royalty Exchange, we recognise the most successful songwriters behind the biggest hits on both sides of the Atlantic

The new release schedule from the larger acts slow down considerably once the New Year settles in the way it has, and we’re starting to see the effect of that on the US Songwriting Chart. Plenty of reshuffling, but no newcomers debuting this week. The notable move is of course that of Taylor Swift claiming the No 1 position on the strength of her sole songwriting credit on Little Big Town’s Better Man – enough to hold off Ed Sheeran’s hit new release – as well as Greg Kurstin’s impressive staying power.

Whereas, this week’s UK Songwriting Chart sees new entries from Danish DJ and producer Martin Jensen for his track Solo Dance, and English singer-songwriter Isobel Beardshaw – better known as Izzy Bizu – who benefits from her latest single Talking To You creeping into the Official Singles Chart. Elsewhere, Sheeran’s record-breaking, coordinated single releases keep him on top, followed by Rag’n’Bone Man AKA Rory Graham who jumps up several places after his latest single Skin joined Human in the singles chart…
