BP Publishing declares 2016’s winning entries across all categories, with the grand prize awarded for a song about war veterans
The American Songwriting Awards released the winners for 2016 and taking the grand prize was Eric Blossman from Spicewood, Texas for End Of The Rainbow. The entry was Blossman’s first into the contest, winning best song of the year and taking top spot out of all the awards’ categories.
The ASA’s critique of the winning song stated that, “End Of The Rainbow has a 6/8 feel…a driving melody and the instrumentation and vocal melodies are very refined to illustrate a mastering of the songwriting craft. The lyrics are honest and heartfelt and the song packs a real punch in its delivery.”
Blossman was also a finalist in the Country category for his song entitled Hard Landing, with lyrics commenting on the problems US war veterans face when returning home from combat.
