PJ Harvey will be guest of honour at the 10th UK Songwriting Festival

PJ Harvey is confirmed as special guest at this year’s UK Songwriting Festival, to be held at Bath Spa University

he twice Mercury Prize-winning PJ Harvey has been confirmed as the special guest at this year’s UK Songwriting Festival. An annual event, this year’s festival – the 10th – is to be held from 15 to 20 August at Bath Spa University, and encourages applicants from all musical backgrounds to participate.

Speaking of Harvey’s involvement, festival director Chris Blanden said: “I’m really pleased that PJ Harvey will be joining us this year to talk about her life as a songwriter. This will be an incredible experience for the students.”

The course costs £1,280 for tuition, accommodation and evening meals, or £900 for tuition and evening meals only. If you want to attend, there’s still (just time) – the deadline for applications is tomorrow, 30 June. To apply, you’ll need to complete an online submission form here. In addition to this you will need to send links to three original compositions, and explain the styles you write in, how long you’ve been writing for, how many songs you’ve written, your influences and your favourite song.

Successful applicants will receive notification of acceptance by Friday 3 July.
