Gorillaz are set to return after co-creator, animator Jamie Hewlett posted new photos of Noodle and Murdoc on his Instagram

orillaz co-creator Jamie Hewlett has confirmed rumours of the animated band’s return. He posted new pictures of the band’s fictional characters on on his Instagram account on Thursday, later answering “Yes. Gorillaz returns” to a fan’s question online.

Damon Albarn told NME last April that he had enough material to release a new Gorillaz album. Albarn also told the Sydney Morning Herald that the group would return with a new release in 2016. It will be their first album in four years, following the release of 2011’s The Fall.

There is yet to be an official statement by the band.
