Kid Cupid: Siren has the potential to become a summer classic
Only a year old, this electro-indie quartet know music and already own their sound with the skill of seasoned veterans
Indie-electro bands have been making waves in mainstream music over the past couple of years, with the genre growing in strength with every new release. London-based newcomers, Kid Cupid have drawn comparison with the likes of CHVRCHES (lead singer Laura’s vocal talent is as good as her peers), London Grammar and Young Galaxy, making them easily one of 2016’s hottest tips.
Siren doesn’t push any boundaries or explore any terrain not already covered by their aforementioned peers. However, as the weather improves and music fans begin to gear up for festival season, Siren has the potential to become a summer classic.
With its infectious melodies and catchy lyrics, Siren has all the hallmarks of a sound usually associated with Florence & The Machine. This demonstrates that the band possess a maturity beyond their years – impressively, the band produced the track themselves – and the potential to last long past this season.
Verdict: An intelligent indie-electro fusion
