Ash will release their seventh studio album this spring

The Northern Irish rock trio Ash have revealed the details of their upcoming seventh studio album, their first since 2007

t’s been a long time since Ash released their sixth studio album Twilight of the Innocents – eight years, to be precise. This coming spring, though, will see the band return with album number seven, much to the delight of their fans.

Entitled Kablammo! the record is to be released on 26 May and follows a period of the band’s history where they had vowed not to release another LP. Not to say, though, that they’d stopped making music: every fortnight from 12 October 2009 to 27 September 2010, Ash released a single on 7-inch vinyl and through digital download, with those releases coming as part of the band’s ‘A-Z series.’

Now, though, the band seem happy to be back in the long player format, with drummer Rick McMurray stating that “A-Z was a great exercise in creativity and we stand by our choice to do it but we still love the album format. Stepping away from it for eight years has given us a new found love for the format and it’s been really exciting to get back to thinking about music in that way again.”
