Our second exclusive this week is a real treat for you and comes courtesy of a superb US pop-rock songwriter
New York piano driven pop-rock songwriter Chris Blacker sets the scene for his upcoming album The Endless Chase, his first LP to feature entirely original songs, with tonight’s superb exclusive track From Thread To Thread.
Of the song Blacker says: “I always felt in my early years in New York City that I was hanging on by a thread, and that it could break at any time. By the time I wrote From Thread To Thread, I was starting to believe that things were going to work out, not necessarily in the way that I thought they would, or as perfectly as I thought they should, but somehow I would figure out a way to move forward.”
Continuing: “The idea of swinging from thread to thread was a metaphor for how life seems to progress for me and for a lot of people I know, artists and non-artists, about the vulnerability that we feel to changes in the world around us, but also the assurance that other threads exist to hold us up.”
He’s been likened to Billy Joel, Rufus Wainwright and Tori Amos and while we’re in agreement with those comparisons, we also think that fans of Regina Spektor and Fiona Apple will enjoy Blacker’s music. As always, though, we’ll let you decide on that…
Like that? Then find Chris Blacker on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook or at his own website. The Endless Chase is released on 4 November and you can pre-order it here.
