Tal Wilkenfeld: her talent is immediately apparent on

Listen to brand new tracks from Tal Wilkenfeld, Ariana Grande, Flight Of The Conchords, Lennon Stella, Div3tran and Whoa Melodic

TAL WILKENFELD
UNDER THE SUN
BMG

Having worked with the likes of Jeff Beck, Prince and Brian Wilson, Tal Wilkenfeld has serious pedigree. Her talent is immediately apparent on this atmospheric track which highlights both her gift as a singer and her deep understanding of song construction – clearly a formidable combination. DH

ARIANA GRANDE
7 RINGS
Universal Records

US pop superstar Ariana Grande returns with her Sound Of Music inspired hit, which is a wonderful track that showcases Grande’s stellar vocal tone. Although the lyrics are not as hard-hitting and poignant us the likes of No Tears Left To Cry and Breathin this is one highlights the breadth of talented Ari has to offer and gives fans an insight into the many genres she is looking to dabble in over the next few years. FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS
IAIN AND DEANNA (LIVE)
Sub Pop

New Zealand’s finest band are back with this lurid tale of an office-based frisson between Deanna from HR and Iain from accounting. With Bret finally allowed to perform the role of the male, he manages to find the butch somewhere deep inside. Nobody does musical comedy as well as these two masters, which is why the new album can’t come soon enough. DH

LENNON STELLA
LA DI DA
Records/Columbia

Lennon Stella has released the stunning stripped back acoustic version of fan favourite La Di Da. To hear Stella’s vocals bare like this is an absolute delight and lyrically the track shines a light on the teen’s incredibly mature songwriting skills. Lennon is one of the most talented musicians of our generation and her voice is just pure heaven. LK

DIV3TRAN
WASTE NO TIME
Fortune Music Ltd

Div3tran AKA Reggie Zippy is best known for being a part of the Afrobeats duo Reggie ‘N’ Bollie. This is his first solo effort in several years following mainstream success in his native Ghana and it’s a real standout. Lyrically, Div3tran has matured and he is creating a sound uniquely his own away from the R’N’ B brand. This single has huge potential to become a global smash. LK

WHOA MELODIC
DISAPPOINTED PESSIMIST
Wiaiwya

After just one listen to this melodic humdinger of an indie tune, it comes as no surprise to learn that Whoa Melodic (aka Michael Wood) is a man with an unnatural obsession with Paul McCartney. There’s also some enjoyable sonic experimentation here but it never comes at the expense of the tune itself. Surely Macca would approve. DH
