Generator’s Tipping Point: WeCreate and Brighter Sounds have teamed up with composer Anna Meredith to create a unique residency opportunity

The residency is open to female music creators and digital artists, or any person who identifies as female, non-binary, cis-gendered or transgender. The event will take place between 3-7 September 2018 at Ampersand Inventions studios in Newcastle. The residency is the result of a partnership between Generator’s Tipping Point: WeCreate project, which creates opportunities and supports female emerging artists in the North East, and Brighter Sound’s Both Sides Now programme which works in sustaining gender equality across the north of England.

Successful applicants will collaborate and create original work alongside Anna Meredith which will be performed on the last day of the residency. The final exhibition will take place at Cobalt Studios in Newcastle, and forms part of The Hexagon Experiment – a celebration of female creativity – which is part of the Great Exhibition Of The North, an 80-day event that started in June designed to promote creativity and innovation in the north of England.

Anna Meredith is a British composer who performs electronic and acoustic music. She has also produced visuals for projects involving the BBC Symphony Orchestra, National Youth Choir Of Great Britain and Proms Youth Ensemble.

The deadline to apply for the residency is 19 August and full details can be found at generator.org.uk
