The legendary independent record label has announced the return of their famous Singles Club. Ten years since the last edition, the fourth volume will be available from April 2019. Details of which songs that will be pressed on to coloured vinyl remain a secret, but it’s promise of “limited-edition tchotchkes” is exciting collectors around the world.
Sub Pop’s first edition of their mail order vinyl service ran from 1988 to 1993. The Sub Pop Singles Club was a success, with second and third editions running from 1998 to 2002 and 2008 to 2009 respectively.
Since its formation 30 years ago in 1988, Sub Pop has been a home for bands who otherwise might have struggled to garner attention in an age before the internet. It was at the forefront of the grunge movement, providing a platform for bands like Nirvana, Mudhoney and Soundgarden. In recent years, the label has released material by The Shins, Father John Misty and Flight Of The Conchords.
The membership for Sub Pop Singles Club Vol. 4 will cost $130 in the US and $195 in Europe and will include 12 seven-inch singles. You can subscribe at subpop.com
