Icon, legend, trailblazer – Creative Inspiration

Folk songwriter Peggy Seeger is to be honoured this month with the inaugural ‘Women In Music Award for Creative Inspiration’

olk singer, songwriter, activist and muse, what more could Peggy Seeger be? Well this November 14 she will also be forevermore the first recipient of the ‘Women In Music Award for Creative Inspiration’ – with the UK music industry recognising her enormous influence. The award is to be given to Seeger in less than two weeks at a ceremony in London, which is to be supported by Music Week and AIM, Association of Independent Music. Fittingly the award is to be presented by another giant of the songwriting world, Billy Bragg. The ‘Women In Music Award for Creative Inspiration’ is in aid of the Nordoff Robins charity, a charity that specialises in music therapy for children with learning disabilities.

The Songwriting featured legend is a performer who has been known for her innovation, bravery and longevity, with topics such as life, death, sex, drug addiction and tragedy feeding her musical inspiration. Earlier this year Seeger released her 22nd album… 22nd. Entitled Everything Changes, the record received lava warm reviews and is to be backed by a 15 date UK tour next June.
