Native Instruments release free sample pack

The man behind Native Instruments’ Kinetic Metal sample pack proves even more innovative with his new creation released this week

Music hardware and software specialists Native Instruments have once again teamed up with sound designer Jeremiah Savage to create KINETIC TREATS. The latest KONTAKT instrument is a collection of sounds sampled from children’s toys – a product that is being described as the creepiest to date.

Including a music box, train set and multiple xylophones, the library offers a unique set of evolving sounds. These are controllable via a unique 3D interface that can be manipulated via user-friendly parameters in the form of a ballerina and a toy robot. A statement on Native Instruments’ website reads: “As the two figures move around the room, the sound morphs and changes – all the way from delicate and airy, to dark and eerie.”

Renowned for his work on the company’s popular KINETIC METAL sample pack, Jeremiah Savage has a passion for recording sound using obscure techniques, such as holding a flaming torch near expensive microphones.

Free until 4 January, the samples require the latest version of KONTAKT 5 – software that allows the user to arrange, edit and playback samples – or the free KONTAKT 5 PLAYER, both available via Native Access.
