Morrissey has written album number 11

Morrissey has announced that the writing’s been completed for his 11th solo album, with recording expected to begin next February

n news that will delight his legions of fans, Morrissey has confirmed that he has both written his new album and pencilled in a recording date, with the songwriter hoping to go into the studio in February 2015. When speaking to Serbia’s B92 (via Morrissey-solo) Morrissey advised “we wrote a new album and I hope that we will record it in February.”

The as yet untitled record will be Morrissey’s 11th release as a solo artist and with album number ten having been released only this year, there’s hope that he can match his 90s’ recording streak – with five albums released between 1991 and 1997. Fans will hope that Morrissey’s new record is fraught with none of the issues of its predecessor World Peace Is None Of Your Business, which was pulled from digital retailers and streaming services by Harvest records amidst claims by Morrissey that he’s been dropped by the label.

Morrissey has also revealed that he declined an offer from Channel 4 to record the alternative to The Queen’s annual Christmas Day message. Speaking to his official fan site True to You he said that he turned the request down because Christmas day is not “quite the time to be trading slaps.”
