Manic Street Preachers dark masterpiece is to receive a 20-year anniversary reissue

Manic Street Preachers have announced details of a special 20th anniversary edition reissue of their legendary album ‘The Holy Bible’

any bands are known for a specific record, one that defines their legend. For Manic Street Preachers that record is The Holy Bible and they are to release a 20th anniversary edition of their cult record. First released on December 8 1994, this will be the first time in 20 years that the LP has been released on vinyl. It comes with a slew of extras, including a booklet of rare photos, sleeve notes by the band themselves and recordings from the Manics’ 1994 London Astoria performances.

The reissued version of The Holy Bible also comes armed with the US mix of the record, a version that the band thought very favourably of, as well as audio footage from the band’s recent Radio 4 Mastertape series and an unreleased version of the track Revol.

The Holy Bible was the last album recorded by the band before the disappearance of their guitarist and lyricist Richey Edwards. Edwards, who suffered with depression, disappeared in February 1995 and was declared legally dead in November 2008. Due to being the last album to feature Edwards, The Holy Bible has become inexorably linked to him, with the lyrics having been split ‘70/30’ between Edwards and co-writer Nicky Wire.
