Biography of the Grammy Award winning rapper to be penned by Bandcamp Senior Editor, and Pitchfork writer, Marcus J. Moore
Last year he followed the success of his 2015 album, To Pimp A Butterfly, by scoring a US no 1 for his fourth LP, Damn. Now it’s been announced that Bandcamp Senior Editor and Pitchfork writer Marcus J. Moore will write the life story of the 12 time Grammy Award winning rapper.
Taking to Twitter, Moore said: “Some big news I’ve been eager to share. I’ve signed with Touchstone Books to write the cultural biography of Kendrick Lamar. My book, The Butterfly Effect: How Kendrick Lamar Ignited the Soul of Black America, will detail his rise to rap superstardom.”
Moore expanded on the bio in an interview with Pigeons & Planes, saying that it covers Lamar’s “coming of age,” and “his profound impact on a racially fraught America.”
