The Janis Joplin ‘Get It While You Can’ biopic is set to begin filming in the second half of 2015
anis Joplin is to be committed to film, in the biopic Get It While You Can, with the filming to commence in the second part of 2015. The film sees Amy Adams playing the role of Joplin, with Dallas Buyers Club director Jean-Marc Vallée in negotiations to take on directorial duties.
The script has been written by Ron Terry, of Jimi Hendrix TV film fame, with Teresa Kounin Terry also taking writers credits. However Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack, who co-wrote Dallas Buyers Club are said to be in talks to rewrite the script.
Joplin died aged 27, putting her as a member of the hallowed ‘27’ club, alongside musician such as Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain, and left an enviable legacy behind her. She was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and also featured at number 46 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All-Time.
2015 will not only feature Joplin on its list of music biopics, with Hank Williams, Guns N’ Roses and N.W.A also set to be committed to film.
