Dave Grohl and co will play five shows in May and June 2015 in support of new album ‘Sonic Highways’
oo Fighters are to undertake a short five-date tour of the UK in early summer next year to promote their latest long-player Sonic Highways. They will be supported by punk rock founding father Iggy Pop and current blues-grunge darlings Royal Blood.
The full dates for the mini-tour are:
Stadium Of Light, Sunderland (25 May)
Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester (27 May)
Wembley Stadium, London (19 & 20 June)
Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh (23 June)
Tickets for all shows will be on pre-sale from 19 November (next Wednesday).
Sonic Highways, the band’s eighth studio album, features eight tracks, each of which was recorded in a different legendary recording studio in a different US city. Released on Monday, it is currently looking likely to take the No 2 slot on the UK albums chart this week, beaten to the top by Pink Floyd’s Endless River.
Asked by Gigwise what fans could expect to hear at the shows, Grohl said: “We have a lot of die-hard fans and we have a lot of new fans – so we like to try and appease everyone. When you play a gig like that, I’m not going to turn my back to the audience and play some kind of challenging B-side shit. I’m going to try and turn around and get 60,000 people to sing along to the chorus like Freddie Mercury at Live Aid.”
