Blair Dunlop live in the studio

Today, Songwriting is delighted to bring you the world premiere of this brand new video by UK singer-songwriter Blair Dunlop

Our second exclusive of the week comes in video form, as UK folk artist Blair Dunlop unveils the promo film for his new track Temper Your Smiling. The song is taken from his forthcoming third studio album Gilded, which is out on 6 May.

Born in Chesterfield, UK, Blair Dunlop is the son of Fairport Convention’s Ashley Hutchings, and first found fame as a child actor. Gilded follows on from his highly acclaimed 2014 release House Of Jacks and his 2012 debut album Blight And Blossom, for which he won the BBC Radio 2 Folk Horizon Award. Blair is a story-teller at heart and Gilded is, true to form, a collection of stories and reflections, recorded live at Manchester’s Blue Print Studios, which is also where today’s video was filmed. On this album, Blair remains true to his folk roots lyrically while pushing musically into new areas.

Blair says of the track simply that it’s “a song about being led down the garden path”. So without any further ado… here it is. See what you think!
