You could be the owner of one of Elvis Presley’s guitars

The King’s birth certificate, a suit and a guitar used during his 1968 Elvis Special are among the items available

Next month is set to be a very special time for fans of Elvis Presley. Not only will 10-16 August see Elvis Week held at Presley’s Graceland in Memphis, but as part of the fun there will be an auction of Presley’s things held at Graceland on 13 August.

Included among the items available is a black and gold outfit worn by the King, a TCB necklace and Presley’s birth record. Perhaps the enticing goody, though, is a Gibson guitar which was given to Presley by Nancy Rooks and was used by him during rehearsals for his 1968 Elvis Special. Bidding is expected to start at $10,000 (approximately £7,600) for the axe.

Elvis Week is held annually to mark the anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death on 16 August 1977. Always hugely popular among followers of the King, it has attracted as many as 40,000 fans to Graceland, with that number estimated to have attended the 2002 Elvis Week.
