Three Surrey based organisations team up to bring people of all backgrounds, race and religions together in time for Christmas
The Academy Of Contemporary Music (ACM) has joined forces with Surrey Arts and Big Leaf Foundation to produce a festive-themed single. Whatever You Believe was recorded with the aim to bring together the local community, while raising money to fund projects that integrate refugees into host communities – a cause Big Leaf Foundation specialises in.
The I Speak Music project was successful in bringing together refugees, displaced young people, ACM students and the people of Surrey to record the single at The Electric Theatre and ACM’s flagship studio in Guildford. ACM offers immersive learning experiences in a safe and supportive space where creative talent can be nurtured and developed.
“Music in its essence, is something that we all have in common,” said songwriter, Jim Pinchen. “It’s everywhere from the rhythm of our first heartbeat through to family events and is, therefore, able to bring us together in a unique and safe way.”
Big Leaf Foundation’s Vicki Felgate added: “We want to replace negative opinions with a simple and joyous message of peace and unity and we hope people will share it far and wide.”
Whatever You Believe is already available on Band Camp and YouTube and will be released across other music platforms soon.
