Brand New are to release their fifth album

The emo quartet send an email advising that the follow-up to 2009’s Daisy will be released via an “unconfirmed format”

It’s been over half a decade since they released an LP and fans of the Long Island emo group Brand New will be delighted to hear that the wait for a new album is nearly at an end, after the band confirmed by email that they will release their fifth album via an “unconfirmed format.”

The quartet released their first new song in six years last year, alongside the teasing statement: “A lot has gone on the last few weeks. Some writing, some recording, some new gear, some studio building.”

Singer Jesse Lacey then hinted during a gig that the band may be coming to an end, stating: “I’m gonna have a new daughter. We’ll hopefully have a record for you. I wanna tell you right here and now, this isn’t gonna last much longer, but it’s been so special for so long. For as long as it does last, we’re so grateful to you all for being here.”

Brand New released their first album Your Favorite Weapon in 2001. But it was their second album Deja Entendu that secured their cult status, with the record regularly featuring in polls of the greatest emo albums of all time. Three years later they released The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me, with Daisy following after another three years.
