27 records added to Grammy Hall of Fame

The Grammy Hall of Fame is based at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles

This year’s additions to the archive include records by Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Otis Redding, Bob Dylan and many more

he Recording Academy, the US institution behind the Grammy Awards, has announced this year’s additions to its Hall of Fame. Established in 1973, the Hall of Fame honours “recordings of lasting qualitative or historical significance that are at least 25 years old”. This year’s additions bring the total number of singles and albums in the archive to 987.

Being ‘inducted’ at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles early in the new year will be the following recordings:

Neil Portnow, President/CEO of The Recording Academy, said: “With recordings dating as early as 1909 through the late ’80s, this year’s GRAMMY Hall Of Fame entries not only represent a diverse collection of influential and historically significant recordings but also reflect the changing climate of music through the decades. These memorable, inspiring and iconic recordings are proudly added to our growing catalogue, knowing that they have become a part of our musical, social, and cultural history.”

A full-colour, 110-page book honouring this year’s ‘inductees’ entitled GRAMMY Hall Of Fame 2015 Collector’s Edition will be in stores before Christmas.
