This week’s exclusive track comes from an artist that True Radio have been calling “the Bruce Springsteen of our generation”

nother great track exclusive for you today here at Songwriting. This time around the song in question is Tailwind (It’s A Beautiful Day) by Peter Kelly, and it’s the first single to be taken from his forthcoming long-player, which is due in February.

Playing guitar from the age of 10 and gigging in bands by the time he was 13, Peter Kelly went on to graduate from the prestigious Berklee College Of Music before moving to New York to begin his career in earnest. He made his debut with the Forever, Again EP in 2012, which was produced by John Campos – who’s also manning the board for the soon-come album.

Don’t be put off if you’re not a big fan of The Boss, either – we’re sure True Radio meant that more as a reference to Peter’s songwriting craft than to the actual music. Because in the latter, we don’t hear Springsteen so much… instead we hear a little bit of Counting Crows, a little bit of U2, a little bit of what we’d call indie or Britpop and US readers would call college rock, and a whole heap of pop sheen. Oh, and a little bit of rap, too, which took us by surprise and which certainly gives the track an extra dimension.

But then again, it doesn’t matter what WE hear, because you can simply play the track below and decide for yourselves!
