Georgian-British singer-songwriter Katie Melua has announced that her 2016 winter concert series will see her joined onstage by the 23-piece Gori Women’s Choir. Masters of the ancient Georgian tradition of polyphonic singing, Gori Women’s Choir are described by Melua as a “completely unique vocal orchestra”.

Together they will perform new material from Melua’s forthcoming recording project as well as a selection of classic songs from her six-album catalogue – from the 2003 debut Call Off The Search to 2013’s Ketevan. The choir was founded in 1970 at Gori’s School of Music, and is lead and conducted by Teona Tsiramua. Georgian polyphonic singing has been designated by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
