Williams introduces the Symphony Grand
An 88-key, weighted-action digital instrument with six-speaker stereo sound system and effects to recreate the sound of a real piano
Thousand Oaks, California-based digital piano manufacturer, Williams has introduced the Symphony Grand – a micro-grand-style, 88-key instrument offering a custom hammer action keybed with 128-voice polyphony, a six-speaker stereo sound system, an ebony gloss finish and a matching piano bench.
The Symphony Grand is equipped with 174 voices (192 MB of ROM samples) made up of 128 General MIDI sounds and 46 from Williams’ high-definition Custom Sound Library featuring sounds sampled from a famed Italian grand piano, as well as a wide selection of vintage electric pianos and organs. Backing options are provided by 120 Style Arranger songs in a range of genres for real-time playback, along with intros, fills, variations and endings for interactive performance.
New effects are included to reproduce the natural sounds of a real piano, such as adjustable sustain pedal noise, key release noise and a sustain layer that reproduces sympathetic resonance when you depress the sustain pedal. A Mod/FX feature delivers rotary effects on organs and vibrato on electric pianos.
In terms of connectivity, the piano is equipped with Bluetooth audio input, USB/MIDI connection for recording and use as a controller, and a USB Host port that plays MIDI files from a USB thumb drive. A built-in two-track recorder also makes it possible to capture your performance. you get MIDI I/O, stereo quarter-inch and RCA audio inputs and outputs, and a headphone jack.
An onboard metronome and Song Tutor mode teaches an assortment of classical, rock, and blues songs. For more in-depth lessons, Williams has partnered with McCarthy Music to provide cloud-based piano education with an online music library.
