The German audio specialist announces the arrival of three new closed-back models to join their HD 400 range of headphones.

Audio specialist Sennheiser launches the next generation of its HD 400 series of over-ear headphones at the recent IFA 2015 show in Berlin. The range includes the closed-back models HD 451, HD 461 and HD 471. Powered by Sennheiser’s proprietary neodymium magnets, all three models have been designed to cater to different sound preferences – the HD 451 and HD 461 models feature increased bass response, whereas the HD 471 aims to provide a more balanced sound experience.

“The HD 400 range is the quintessential choice for anyone wishing to step up to a great audio experience,” comments Ivan Kuan, Head of Portfolio Management, Essentials, at Sennheiser. “The new headphones build on the success of our popular HD 400 range with fresh designs. They offer Sennheiser’s characteristically uncompromised blend of audio excellence, reliability, and contemporary looks.”

The new HD 400 series headphones are designed to be companions to mobile devices, with closed-back, over-ear designs which aim to keep the listener isolated from external noise and prevent disturbance of others. They also feature tangle-free, single-sided cables and the HD 461 and HD 471 both benefit from soft leatherette ear pads.

The HD 461 and HD 471 also feature detachable cables with inline remotes and microphones to take calls and control music playback on a smart device. These models are available in dedicated versions for Android and Apple iOS devices. The range-topping HD 471 also includes a three-metre cable, a gold-plated plug and a 6.3mm stereo adapter to optimise connectivity with home hi-fi equipment. This model also comes supplied with a carry pouch.

The new Sennheiser HD 400 range of headphones will be available in late September with the HD 451 priced at £49.99, HD 461 at £69.99 and HD 471 at £89.99. For more details, go to: sennheiser.com
