Korg Pitchblack mini

Korg’s Pitchblack mini: weighs in at 129 grams and features a 7-segment color LED display

A new miniturised addition to the guitar pedal tuner series, offers battery operation, strobe modes, stabilisers and true bypass design

Korg’s Pitchblack mini is the latest addition to the tuner series, now available in a smaller size – weighing in at 129 grams. Featuring a large LED display, the unit supports battery operation and is also equipped with stabilisers to prevent it from overturning.

Despite its small size, Pitchblack mini consists of a large 7-segment color LED display. Players can choose from three meter display modes – ‘Regular’, ‘Strobe’ or ‘Half-strobe’ in which the direction and speed of meter movement indicate the pitch change. When using strobe mode, the Pitchblack mini allows precision tuning with plus-or-minus 0.1 cent accuracy. It also allows the calibration to be adjusted to a variety of concert pitches.

The true bypass design allows for the input sound to become output with absolutely no change (when the tuner is off). In other words, the tuner circuit does not change, degrade, or modify the sound in any way. The Pitchblack mini supports battery operation but a DC9V power supply designed for effect units can be used. The unit is also equipped with ‘slidetype’ stabilisers on the underside of the body, eliminating any concern that the tuner will tip over.

Korg’s Pitchblack mini is due to for release in April 2016 at a recommended retail price of £52. For more details, visit: korg.com/us/products/tuners/pitchblack_mini/
