Sampletank 2 for iOS: now matches the power of the desktop-based virtual instrument app
The full-featured, expandable, mobile sound and groove workstation for iPhone and iPad, with a new sound engine and more samples
Mobile music creation specialist, IK Multimedia has announced the release of SampleTank 2 for iPhone and iPad, an update to the virtual instrument. With SampleTank 2, iOS users now have the power of the desktop version, with over 1,900 sounds, a new sound and groove workstation, expanded eight parts and redesigned interface for the mobile platform.
SampleTank 2 for iOS is a sample-based virtual instrument with thousands of sounds from multiple categories of acoustic, electric and electronic instruments. Players can load up to eight simultaneous parts from a selection of 140 included instruments in 16 categories, including: piano, drums, bass, guitar, strings, keyboards, synths and organs. New sounds are now available for in-app purchase in SampleTank 2 with six new ‘Pro-Instrument’ packs, comprising over 500 new instruments. All new sounds are in addition to the original factory sound set – to include Miroslav Philharmonik, Sonik Synth and SampleMoog Mobile Editions – bringing the total to over 1,900 instruments and over 1,200 MIDI patterns.
In the new ‘Live’ interface, eight instrument slots can be used to create layers, splits, or multis, using the multi-touch device interface. Additionally, loops and patterns can be loaded and used to create backing tracks and accompaniments. For composers, the new ‘Song’ mode includes compositional tools like an integrated eight-track MIDI sequencer featuring an optimised interface. The sequencer also supports looped instruments, and the new full song timeline with one-touch real-time rewind helps when laying down ideas.
SampleTank 2 is available now as a direct download from the App Store as a free version (with 20 instruments), and paid version (over 140 instruments) for $/€19.99 (approx. £17). To find out more and download, visit: appstore.com/sampletank
