A tiny, cube-shaped audio interface with mic preamp and guitar input, designed for mobile recording in the tightest of spaces
Studio hardware specialist Focusrite Audio Engineering has announced the release of the iTrack One Pre, a small, cube-shaped recording interface with up to 96kHz and 24-bit resolution. Offering a mic preamp and 1/4-inch guitar input, the unit is designed for singer-songwriters who are looking to capture ideas while on the move.
Plugging straight in using Micro-USB-to-Lightning cable – with the optional phantom power being generated from the iOS device – an illuminated gain dial ‘halo’ indicates the ideal recording level: green is good, red is clipping. A micro-suction base on the bottom is designed to stick to any flat surface and stop the unit from moving around.
Officially Apple MFi certified, the unit works with iOS devices up to and including the iPhone 6S and iPad Pro. iTrack One Pre is compatible for recording with the iPhone 7, however, simultaneous recording and monitoring is not possible due to the iPhone 7 not having a 3.5mm headphone output.
The Focusrite iTrack One Pre is set to retail at £120/$129.99 and is available now. To find out more, go to: itrack.focusrite.com/products/itrack-one-pre
