The electronics brand uses this week’s music gear conference to launch compact instruments suited to beginners and seasoned keyboard players
For piano players, portability can be a real nightmare as transporting a concert size grand piano is not an option for most musicians. Casio Music UK has given this a lot of thought while designing their new instruments, the CPD-S100 and CPD-S350. Weighing in at 10.5kg, the CPD-S100 comes equipped with 10 different sounds, while both pianos feature a newly designed sound engine and key action. The Scaled Hammer Action II keyboard boasts imitation ivory and ebony textured keys that offer a natural touch which Casio claims provides an “unrivalled and redefined playing experience.”
Musicians familiar with the Casio range will be aware of the famous CDP line and these latest models add to the strength of the established range of instruments. The 88 note digital pianos can be powered by six AA batteries allowing 13 hours of playing time and both are compatible with Casio’s Chordana Play Piano App. The app lets players learn new pieces and guides users through the piano functions. If the CPD-S100 is too simple for your needs then the CPD-S350 features 54 registration memories and 700 instrument tones.
“We are incredibly proud to present the ultra-compact revamp of our CDP digital pianos to the market,” said Casio EMI’s Neil Evans. “Yet again, it underlies our commitment to develop new, exciting and ground-breaking products here at Casio. The CDP-S pianos are one of the strongest entry-level pianos now available in the market and we anticipate they will become a huge hit with our customers.”
Casio is also showcasing two new PX-S digital pianos at the NAMM Show. The PX-S1000 and PX-S3000 form the latest generation in the Privia series and, with a depth of 232 millimetres, the manufacturer claims they are the world’s slimmest digital pianos with an 88 weighted key hammer action. The PX-S1000 will be available in black and white [pictured] while the PX-S3000 comes in black only.
The CPD-S100 retails at £399, while the CPD-S350 costs £529. The PX-S1000 is priced at £575 and the PX-S3000 at £795. More information can be found at casio.co.uk
