The French software and hardware manufacturer readies its latest innovation – a next-generation USB interface with two DiscretePRO microphone preamps

aving unveiled the AudioFuse at the 2015 NAMM Show in January, this week the French music software and hardware developer Arturia revealed the innovations behind their next-generation audio interface, and announced its imminent availability. The AudioFuse arrives hot on the heels of the company’s recent KeyLab 88-key MIDI keyboard controller, which was also unveiled recently.

At the core of the audio interface’s hardware, two DiscretePRO microphone preamps benefit from a pristine analogue microphone preamp circuit that claims to capture microphone nuances and performances as accurately as possible. Arturia are confident they have the facts and figures to support their claims, having rigorously tested the AudioFuse’s specifications using the APx555 – the latest audio analyzer from Audio Precision.

For example, in compliance with AES117 standards, the signal-to-noise ratio, expressed as Equivalent Input Noise (EIN) on Arturia’s DiscretePRO technology is better than that of anything else in its class: >129dB unweighted (>131dB A-weighted). Plus, when it came to Total Harmonic Distortion (THD), AudioFuse harmonics distribution chart shows that the 2nd Harmonic is 107.6dB down from the test signal. The DiscretePRO preamps also boast consistent frequency responses (to 250kHz) and benefit from three gain structures — standard studio/classical signal levels, weaker signal levels and attenuated stronger signals – with extended gain ranges (18dB to 72 dB).

Beyond all the technical details, the AudioFuse is designed for connectivity with “virtually everything” – mics, instruments, turntables, studio equipment, Mac, PC, Linux, tablets, even iOS and Android phones.

Arturia’s AudioFuse will be shipping in a matter of weeks and will be available to buy in a choice of silver, grey, and black colour finishes for €549/$599 (approx. £400). For more information, visit the product webpage here: www.arturia.com/audiofuse/overview
