Arturia announces Keylab Essential Series
French manufacturer prepares to release a new fully-featured range of universal MIDI controller keyboards designed with “budget-conscious musicians in mind”
During last week’s Musikmesse trade show in Frankfurt, the French music hardware brand Arturia announced the imminent release of 49- and 61-note KeyLab Essential Series universal MIDI controller keyboards. The manufacturer declared the USB instruments were “created with the budget-conscious musician in mind” and are designed to provide “everything they need to create and record music straight out of the box”.
Both models combine a velocity sensitive keyboard, bend and modulation wheels, eight RGB back-lit, multi-purpose performance pads, along with nine faders and rotary encoders. For enhanced DAW integration and control, KeyLab Essential features MCU/HUI compliance, DAW Command Center and transport section, DAW-assigned memory (mapping for knobs & faders to control panning and level of tracks) and Analog Lab-assigned memory (mapping for knobs & faders to control essential parameters in Arturia instruments), along with six fully-customizable user memories.
KeyLab Essential includes the music software Analog Lab 2, Ableton Live Lite and UVI Grand Piano Model D, and will begin shipping worldwide in June 2017. The 49-key version will retail for €199 (approx. £169) and the 61-key version will retail for €249 (approx. £212) with both due to be available worldwide in June 2017.
