It’s not too late for submissions and to have a say on who should be recognised at this year’s event

Organisers have confirmed that the deadline for nominations to the Women In Music Awards 2019 has been extended. Due to high demand, fans can now enter their submissions until 5pm (GMT) on 12 August, with the ceremony taking place on 8 November at the Brewery in London.

Women In Music was launched in 2014 with the aim to recognise, highlight and celebrate the inspirational, influential and innovative women leading the industry. The event is put together by Music Week, AIM and UK Music, and categories include Businesswoman Of The Year, Outstanding Contribution, Rising Star, Music Champion, Campaigner, Music Creative, International Woman Of The Year and The Company Award: Diversity In The Workplace.

In 2018, Skin of British rock band Skunk Anansie won the Inspirational Artist award. Megan Page, Record Store Day and National Album Day coordinator, and Vanessa Reed, CEO of PRS Foundation, were also amongst the women awarded at last year’s ceremony.

“I have seen the Awards grow from the first year, when I was inducted,” said Julie Weir from Music for Nations, Sony Music. “Running an independent label to now working within a major structure, and the people attending have always been very supportive and embracing of all inductees and indeed attendees.”
