Funnel Music’s songwriting bootcamp will be held at a new studio space at Monkton Combe School in Bath

In association with Songwriting Magazine, artist development start-up Funnel Music is running a new three-day residential bootcamp for emerging songwriters

Funnel Music is a new artist development company that has already started signing up emerging artists – developing them through mentoring, writing, production and management – and has announced a series of residential bootcamps to discover more new talent. Run in association with Songwriting Magazine, the first course will be held at a studio facility at Monkton Combe School in Bath, UK and will focus on developing the skills of the songwriter.

Taking place across three days in August, the bootcamp will explore the tools and strategies for inspiring and facilitating the craft of songwriting, with students being encouraged to share their original compositions for comment and review, and each day given specific writing assignments tailored to explore some of the basic principles of songcraft.

Surrounded by a team of mentors and experienced writers, students can expect group instruction workshops, jamming and writing sessions, one-to-one and group tuition, live performances, networking opportunities and recording time. Those on the course will also have the opportunity to ‘audition’ for a place on the Funnel Music roster, with all the recording, production, mentoring and marketing that the company provides.

“Being a writer in this day and age is exciting and daunting,” explains course manager, Gavin Thorpe. “The strength of Funnel Music is that we are all active in the industry and our artists are reaping the benefit of that.”

Funnel Music’s songwriting bootcamp at Monkton Combe School is on 15–17 August 2016 and there are 25 spaces at £599 per person, which also includes accommodation and meals provided.
