Kendrick Lamar: retains his position as the top songwriter

We list the week’s top songwriters behind the biggest hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart

After back-to-back weeks of Kendrick Lamar retaining his position as the top songwriter, several tracks from DAMN slip in the Hot 100 rankings making room for a familiar face. Russ Vitale makes his return to the chart with his hit Losin Control. In last week’s debuts, Canadian singer-songwriter Alessia Cara (aka Alessia Caracciolo), holds strong to her No 16 position largely thanks to the her collaboration with EDM producer Zedd on Stay which is steadily moving up the charts.

Brothers and YouTube viral breakout stars Ayo & Teo (Ayleo and Mateo Bowles) maintain their seat on the chart despite moving down to No 20. The brothers gained their following posting videos of themselves dancing to hits of others, and now have one of their own with Rolex.
