We do spoil you lucky people. Our second exclusive of the day is from a truly brilliant piano-led American songwriter
American songwriter Judith Owen takes the piano as the vehicle to bring her rich storytelling to life, and tonight’s exclusive cover of Bryan Ferry’s classic song More Than This offers a fitting example of why she’s received critical acclaim from Sunday Times Culture among others.
Of More Than This Judith says: “I was on the road much of 2015 opening for Bryan Ferry and every night I’d hear this song which just happens to be my favourite of all his songs. I was having the best and worst of times. Happy on the road, but missing my family, home and dog and wishing my father was still alive to see me perform. I started playing my own slowed down emotionally raw version of the song at soundcheck. It said everything I was feeling….without people you love in your life to share the joys, the highs and lows, what else is there? The words took on a weightier meaning than a transitory romance. Sometimes life reminds you that there’s nothing More Than This.”
We think that there’ll be no complaints from Bryan Ferry’s fans at Judith Owen’s take on More Than This. Listen below, though, to see if you agree:
