Dan & The Wildfire’s third album is coming soon

There’s a definite country tinge to this week’s exclusive track, which comes from Boston, Massachusetts-based five-piece Dan & The Wildfire

ailing from Boston, Massachusetts, Dan & The Wildfire describe their music as “one part old-time mountain folk, one part classic rock and roll, and three parts bottom-shelf bourbon.” Crowned “indie band of the year” at the New England Music Awards in 2013, they’re about to release their third album, Bull Moose, and it will be trailed by a single, Austin, TX, which you can hear for the very first time right here.

Dan & The Wildfire made their debut with the album Nothing. Anything. Everything in 2011, under the name of frontman Dan HL. A change of moniker to Dan & The Wildfire accompanied the release of their second long-player, Smoke Signals. Currently, they’re gearing up for a string of dates around Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and Philadelphia to promote the new album… but in the meantime you can hear Austin, TX below. “People change, relationships fall apart, and that’s part of life,” says Dan. “This is a song  for anyone who has ever been less than thrilled with that fact.”

Hype sheet comparisons for this one include Mumford & Sons, The Decemberists and Neutral Milk Hotel, while we think older readers might also hear echoes of The Band, The Eagles and R.E.M… mixed up with a brass interlude straight outta Tijuana. But as ever, you can make your own mind up!
