Multi-platinum ‘Thinking Out Loud’ songwriter has been tipped for task of writing the song for this year’s X Factor winner
He’s still only 25 and already has 2 LPs, 14 EPs, 24 singles, his own record label and an Ivor Novello Award to his name. Now, though, it seems that Ed Sheeran might soon claim the greatest honour of them all: writing the song for this year’s X Factor winner.
Sources told UK tabloid The Sun that the show’s creator Simon Cowell has secured the services of Sheeran. The source said: “Everything Ed does turns to gold. To have him write the winner’s song is huge and amazing news for this year’s winner.”
Continuing: “All the remaining contestants have heard the track and it works for the majority. They can’t believe potentially their first ever single will be written by Ed.”
Adding: “The only chance his song won’t get used is if 5Am or HONEY G pull off a shock win. Then bosses might need to consider another one of their options.”
Ed Sheeran released his debut album + on 9 September 2011, with his second album x following that on 20 June 2014. Both records have achieved multi-platinum status, helping to make Sheeran one of the most successful artists of the last decade.
